Start Your Week with Great Comics!

It's been a crazy couple of weeks, huh? Amid all the upheaval, perhaps the biggest change in my daily routine is having to post more on BlueSky, where my follower count jumped from 500 to 1500 seemingly overnight. If you're up for adding another time suck to that rectangle you spend way too much time looking at, it seems BlueSky is where the bulk of comic creators have landed after a concerning update to Xwitter's Terms of Service agreement.

Saturday, I decided to repost this innocent little meme. I thought it would get a few likes, then die after a few hours (because that's what happens on Twitter). Instead, it's become a constant stream of likes, and I've been having fun going through memories of my favorite stories since becoming a comics fan 5 years ago. I'll probably be posting comics until New Years Eve, so come join the fun!

Time For Some Cuts

I just finished preparing my notes for this week's Pull List. I've been saying this for a while, but it's time to make some cuts. If I do nothing, this week's total will be $78! And if I'm honest with myself, I don't have time to read all these titles anyway. Be on the lookout for my annual Purge video soon. I wonder which books will make the cut?

The Shadow Cabinet is Back!

New Milestone books always make me happy. It's been over a year since Icon vs. Hardware wrapped up. But not to worry, we're headed back to Dakota City with The Shadow Cabinet! Writer Joe Illidge returned to the podcast to give me all the details. After reading an advance copy of issue 1, I can't wait to get the real thing in my hands! Watch the interview, then run to your shop to get this book on Wednesday.

An Unfortunate Update

I didn't think I'd be doing this so soon, but I have an unfortunate update about my Fanhome Legend of Batman subscription. After checking out other peoples experiences in the comments, I've decided to keep my subscription going at least until Christmas. Hopefully, things turn around.

Anyway, I'm gonna go mull over my financial decisions and record this Pull List video. I'll see you in the comment section. Until then...

It's a rainy Thursday morning here in NC, and I'm really wishing I was elsewhere. What better way to cope than to dust off this weekly very sporadic newsletter? (I'm taking suggestions on a new title, btw). Let's Predict Some SDCC Announcements! Today is Day One of San Diego Comic-Con, and while I've seen a few pre-show Press Releases, I have no insider knowledge on what may be announced. Instead, I thought it would be fun to make some wild predictions/guesses. Stephanie Williams finally...

video preview

I never would have guessed I'd only write 3 newsletters in 3 months, but here we are. February was a really good month, but it was tough for me. Every year, I feel like I struggle to cover the wealth of amazing Black comics projects out there during Black History Month. This year, I made 2 videos I'm really proud of. The Deep Dive into Dwayne McDuffie's unique legacy of Diversity at Milestone was well-received, and that made me happy. But the most ambitious video I've ever made was my deep...

Friday, February 20th would have been Dwayne McDuffie's 64th birthday. In comics, he's best known as the co-founder and Editor-in-Chief of Milestone Media -- home to Static, Icon & Rocket and more. He arguably had an even better career in the world of television animation, first with Static Shock, then serving as Story Editor for Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, Ben 10 and the list goes on. His last screened work, a direct-to-DVD adaptation of Mark Waid's Tower of Babel, is probably...
