It’s 10pm on Wednesday night. I’m sitting in my car, periodically checking to make sure the battery charger I bought from Amazon isn’t frying anything. What better time to start tapping out this email? This week seems chock full of those little hiccups. All the car trouble has me a full day behind on my production schedule. The Marvel showcase that should’ve been out today? Not even filmed. I’m almost certainly not going to have tomorrow’s Podcast episode up on time. Lunar was late with their shipment, so I still don’t have this week’s DC Comics (a shame, because I was really looking forward to the new Plastic Man title). I guess that’s life. Sometimes, you just gotta take it on the chin. You’ll live to hustle another day. Things to Look Forward To: My next Marvel review will be a roundup of thick trades and Epic Collections I got in recently. It’s amazing what good stories you find when you let go of your silly ‘omnibus only’ rules. For the serious reader, these thick trades are probably the best bang for your buck overall. Another Plea I REALLY want to see Damien Becton’s The Few of Farbetween #1 get funded. We’ve got about 6 days left on the campaign, and I’m committed to shouting from the rooftops until it happens. Either the algorithm gods are smiling down on me, or you guys REALLY loved hearing Ryan Oakley tell her story on the podcast. The audio has nearly 1,000 streams after a week, which is pretty much unheard of. I really love being able to provide a space for creators to let their hair down and share their stories, so I'm grateful that you enjoy listening to the conversations. We're hurtling toward 50 episodes. My man Skip would be proud of me for sticking with it every week. I'm gonna have to find a way to celebrate the milestone. Until then... Read Something Dope Today, BJ KICKS P.S.: It’s 11pm and the Amazon charger worked. No more looking pitiful with a jump starter in public places! Remind me to never leave my hazard lights on again. |

It's been a crazy couple of weeks, huh? Amid all the upheaval, perhaps the biggest change in my daily routine is having to post more on BlueSky, where my follower count jumped from 500 to 1500 seemingly overnight. If you're up for adding another time suck to that rectangle you spend way too much time looking at, it seems BlueSky is where the bulk of comic creators have landed after a concerning update to Xwitter's Terms of Service agreement. Repost this image (if you dare) Saturday, I decided...
Fun fact: I started typing this email nearly 2 weeks ago, back when I was still pretending I wasn’t dog tired and didn’t need a break after the whirlwind that was New York Comic Con. I crashed into a sleep coma the Tuesday after NYCC and left this message sitting in the drafts. In the week since, I’ve had a major auto repair, a surprise flat tire on my way to vote the next day, and had to put down my mom's family dog. And that was all AFTER the splitting headache that knocked me out last...
New York Comic Con 2024 has finally gone from thing I'm super nervous about to trip I'm SUPER excited for. And as I type this, I’m actually sitting at the gate, waiting to board my flight. I spent most of yesterday frantically packing my bags, then most of this morning putting the final touches on some videos that will premiere on the channel while I’m gone. Speaking of, here’s an early look at today’s video: Check out my NYCC Schedule, plus a look at what I’m bringing with me! I don’t fully...
